About Us

Catherine

ReadyBaby is the 'baby' that grew out of helping hundreds of parents just like you navigate pregnancy, birth, and those first days with your little one. My name is Catherine, and I am an experienced Labour & Delivery. I love to give expecting parents the gift of confidence and clarity!

All classes are taught by registered L&D nurses who share my passion and professional skill for all things birth and baby. The classes are developed and geared specifically to birthing practices in Calgary, and will help you know just what to expect when you deliver and begin your parenting journey. We have a unique perspective as practicing L&D nurses and our passion is to provide evidence-based information and hands-on experiences to help you make the very best choices for yourself and your baby.

Together we will learn about your pregnant and labouring body, practice relaxation and coping skills, watch birth stories, cover options for pain control, learn baby care and calming, gain knowledge in breastfeeding positions and techniques, and discover hundreds of tips and tricks that will improve your labour and delivery experience.

We know that every family is unique, every parent has different questions and concerns, and every baby arrives with a one-of-a-kind birth story. The physician team at South Health Campus trusts ReadyBaby to guide expecting parents towards a strong, positive start.

No one should have to face the day they become a parent with anxiety and overwhelm. Join us for action-packed classes that will grow your excitement and knowledge for what's ahead!

Erin

My name is Erin and I’m honoured to help you prepare for your little one’s arrival. I am a Registered Nurse working at South Health Campus specializing in labour, delivery, and post partum. With a background in teaching and coaching prior to nursing, I look forward to walking alongside you with support and open mindedness as you prepare for this wondrous, life changing event.

Outside of the hospital, I spend my time with my husband, three children, dog, cats and chickens! We love being out in the fresh air together, biking, skiing, hiking, and camping. I also enjoy seeking solace in the garden, on the trails, or on the yoga mat.

As you journey through pregnancy and childbirth you are born into parenthood. I believe there are many “uncontrollables” throughout this beautifully unique process, but what we can control is how we prepare for this event so we are not surprised. My wish for you is that your ReadyBaby experience will help you to feel calm and informed so you can surrender to the process with confidence, trust and grace.

Helen

Hello expectant parents! My name is Helen. As a mom of two spirited little girls, I can appreciate the excitement and the apprehension that comes with new parenthood. Despite being a competent Registered Nurse, I remember the emotional discomfort of bringing my oldest daughter home from the hospital, thinking “Are they truly going to entrust ME to take care of this little baby?!”. As my husband and I figured out parenting the best way we could, I had wished that we had somehow been better at preparing ourselves for this journey.

I believe that through guidance and support parents are empowered to embrace their birth experience and care for their little one with courage and confidence. As a life long learner, I continue to strive to contribute current and accurate information to you. Together with my training and experience in birth work, infant feeding, and child development my goal is to share this knowledge with you.

My clinical experience lies in the area of Maternal and Child Health. For over a decade I have worked alongside families and babies as a Registered Nurse. I currently work at the South Health Campus on the Labor and Delivery and Postpartum unit. Additionally, I am also a Board Certified Lactation Consultant in both hospital and clinic settings.

Outside of work, I cherish every opportunity I have with my family. In the summer we love to go camping in our cherry red colored travel trailer and explore the beauty of the Rockies.

Irena

Hello! I’m Irena, one of the instructors at ReadyBaby. Chances are that you’re reading this at a time when you are exploring ways to help prepare you for the birth of your baby. First off, congratulations! Becoming a parent is likely the most transformative event in your life - what an incredibly special time you are going through!

I have had a lifelong passion for all things pregnancy, birth and babies. Throughout my (almost) 40 year career as an RN, I have had the privilege to support women and their families as they transitioned into parenthood, both in the hospital and community setting. As a certified lactation consultant, I am also passionate in helping mothers and babies navigate their breastfeeding journey. More recently, becoming a prenatal yoga instructor has given me the opportunity to combine this passion with my love for Yoga; I teach classes in my local community and feel honoured to guide women as they connect to their inner strength to prepare both physically and mentally for the birth of their baby.

When I am not on my yoga mat or working with expectant families, you can find me walking my dog and spending lazy mornings sipping foamy lattes. Beautiful sunsets fill my soul. I have a husband who knows how to bake delicious bread, three amazing grown children, two of whom live in Europe, and I am one very proud “Oma” to a little girl named Quinn.

I am both honoured and excited to have joined this team of passionate RNs at ReadyBaby who are so committed in helping expectant parents feel confident as they prepare to welcome their baby into the world.

You have what it takes and you are going to be amazing parents - I look forward to meeting you!
